The Fifth Toy Story Film Trailer Sets The Beloved Duo Versus a Tablet Computer

It has been 30 anniversary since the original Toy Story film debuted, establishing the animation giant as a major film company and bringing viewers to beloved figures like the cowboy doll (Tom Hanks) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.

Coming in 2026, the next chapter is scheduled for release. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 appeared this week, offering a brief look into the storyline but keeping fans wondering how it will resolve the conclusion of Toy Story 4.

Bonnie's New Toy: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Spooks the Gang

The preview reveals the young girl — who received Andy's toys when he grew up — getting a latest toy, one that terrifies the familiar toy group. Bonnie gets her initial digital gadget, and she is thrilled about it.

Presumably, the frog-shaped tablet will animate just like Bonnie's other toys. However, the characters seem to view it as a threat intending to supplant them, which it probably is.

Woody's Return: Mysteries from Toy Story 4

An element the teaser doesn't touch on is what the sheriff is returned with his friends in Bonnie's room. The finale of Toy Story 4 saw him set off on a new adventure with Bo Peep (the actress), journeying with a fair and assisting giveaway items locate loving owners.

Surely, the filmmakers will explain the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the film. Seeing him show up in Bonnie's room without warning is somewhat puzzling, however. It also raises questions whether Bo Peep will have returned with him. And where is Duke Caboom (Keanu Reeves)?

Continuity from the Previous Film

At the very least, some aspects are continuing from the prior film. The final act Woody did before setting off for his new life was pass his symbol of authority to the cowgirl (the voice actor), leaving her in charge of the toy domain. In the teaser displays the insignia attached to her shirt.

Hopefully she is remains the key figure among the group.

Toy Story 5 debuts on June 19, 2026.
