Two Victims Identified in the Ivy League School Attack as Authorities Persist in Hunt for Killer.

Two students who lost their lives in the recent tragic incident on the university campus were being remembered Monday – as a manhunt for their assailant persisted following the freeing by local law enforcement of the single suspect of interest in the case.

Remembering Ella Cook

Ella Cook, a second-year scholar from Alabama, was remembered as “an incredible, grounded, faithful, bright light”, per the Cathedral Church of the Advent, Birmingham, which honored her memory at a service on Sunday.

Her role included second-in-command of Brown’s chapter of College Republicans of America, according to the organization. Karoline Leavitt also posted condolences publicly, stating: “Words cannot express. Remembering her loved ones and companions, especially her parents.”

The Second Victim

The other person killed was MukhammadAziz Umurzokov from Uzbekistan, an Uzbek national in his first year of studies at the prestigious university, according to relatives.

Umurzokov’s identity was confirmed by the foreign office of Uzbekistan.

“He possessed remarkable kindness, humor, and intelligence. He had big dreams of pursuing a career in neurosurgery and aiding others,” Samira Umurzokova, his sister said in a memorial statement.

What Happened

Nine more persons were hurt in Saturday’s attack in the engineering building of Brown’s campus in Providence, during the university's examination week.

Law enforcement reported late Sunday that a 24-year-old male taken into custody in a search at a lodging about approximately 17 miles from the campus earlier in the day was set to be freed.

“We have a murderer out there,” said Peter Neronha, Peter Neronha.

Neronha explained, “Investigations can lead one way, and then you need to change course and pursue a different angle, and that’s exactly what has happened over the last 24 hours or so.”
